Within Germany, health insurance companies generally do not assume the costs of return transport – a sometimes vital and important procedure – to the patient's hometown or city. Ensure the best medical care for you and your family, even when you’re in a foreign country: If you are hospitalized abroad and are unsure if therapy and diagnosis there meet German standards, we’ll help clarify the situation and assist you in identifying the proper course of action. For example, DRK Assistance can support you by sending a physician who, upon request, can also certify whether you can be transported or not. We’re always there for you: In case of an emergency abroad, you can contact diplomatic and consular representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany, who will immediately inform the DRK Assistance control center.

Of course, you’re also welcome to contact the DRK Assistance control center directly. It is staffed around the clock, which means that – regardless of the time or time zone you are in – you can always reach our representatives, who will promptly organize all of the necessary steps.
